RocMo Boston Terriers, previously Blackenwhite Boston Terriers, relocated from SE Virginia to Townsend Montana in August 2007. Townsend is about 45min southeast of Helena. My name is Kim Hines and I've been raising Bostons and only Bostons since 1996. My dogs live all over the US, most concentrated in the eastern US in Virginia, Maryland, Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York, Washington D.C., and North and South Carolina, and a few are in California and Florida.
I try to adhere to the AKC standard and like my Bostons square and stocky with lots of attitude. You will not find any undesirable colors like red, blue, or fawn here, nor blue or green eyes, or pale noses. These off colors are major faults that unscrupulous breeders try and pass off as "rare" in order to charge a fortune for them. My dogs are all black and white, black brindle and white, or seal and white. All have flat or shorter noses, square bodies and proper markings. We just love the smaller cobby type of Boston here at Blackenwhite. They're much harder to breed, most of the females require c-sections, but it's so cute to see this stocky little dog strutting around like he's one of the big boys. Not all my dogs are tiny of course, but with the lines I have I am able to produce quite a few dogs at around 12lbs, some smaller. But I like to play it safe and say that the average size of my pups as adults is 15lbs, some will be larger, some smaller.
Starting in the summer of 2008 I will start having all my dogs CERF certified. If all oes as planned i should have all my dogs certified by the end of the summer. At that time i'll start working on OFA and BAER.
All of my adult dogs have full AKC Registrations with champion bloodlines, some have more champions in their pedigrees than others. My males have the best pedigrees with the most champions and some very well known kennel names in their backgrounds. Just about all of my puppies come with an AKC Limited Registration. I do this in hopes of giving my pups a better chance at getting good homes. I also want to protect my lines and keep my dogs out of the hands of puppy mills or people who just want to make a quick buck off of their pet. If you're interested in showing your pup at an AKC confirmation event I can give you full registration w/ a show contract and will retain co-ownership. After the dog has gotten it's championship I'll sign full ownership over to you. This is not negotiable so please do not ask. I do not sell my dogs to be bred, they are mainly sold as pets and that's how i prefer it.
All the pups here at Blackenwhite are born and raised under foot in my home. They're handled and loved up daily and are very well socialized. I also have 2 young children and their friends who play with the pups as often as permitted (supervised of course) so my pups are used to small hands and all the activity that comes with them. Pups are between 8-10 weeks old when they're ready to go home. They'll come with current shots, health record, guaranteed worm free, vet checked, AKC paperwork, written health guarantee, a toy, and a house training book if you need it. I am also here for my owners to answer any questions they have about their dog, whether it left here 2 days, 2 weeks, or 2 years ago. Microchipping is also available.
I also occasionally make hand sculpted ceramic pieces featuring my favorite breed. I've done all sorts of pieces, from small figurines and ornaments, boston banks, large lamps and cookie jars. I incorporate a large amount of detail into my pieces and they take many many hours to complete. I have a few pieces that are currently available and are pictured here. Special orders will be taken as soon as I get my studio set back up. Currently it's all still in boxes in the garage waiting for my studio space to be completed. I will also be offering wheel thrown stoneware items w/ of course a boston or two incorporated in there somewhere.
